Scottie Nell Hughes joined me on my show again today and we had a terrific discussion on how the US Foreign Policy is having an impact on business. She discussed examples of what could happen if things do not change, and she also discussed things you can do to help change things for the better. Here are a few points she touched on:
- Thanks to technology all Countries of the world are on an interconnected system
- Look at Greece for what can happen to us if we become a truly entitled nation.
- Raising minimum wage in Washington State is driving businesses to move out.
- If they continue to raise gas prices the auto industry go back into recession.
- Americans need to become informed and engaged and they need to care.
- We don’t need to take bail outs from foreign Country’s. Our Country was built on personal responsibility.

Jackie Smith joins me to discuss selling as a Christian
On today’s show Jackie Smith, the Intentional ChristianPrenuer joined me and we discussed selling as a Christian. Here are a few take aways:
- Focus on your client’s needs
- It’s a numbers game, so practice goal setting
- Have a consistent approach
- Be willing to engage with people even those who may not believe as you do
- If you think you would be good in sales, can you handle the rejection?
Jackie came to Christ at the age of 25. Like most who first come to the Lord she wondered “God what do you want me to be doing in life?” After some time it became clear Jackie’s talent was “Sales”. So she asked God how she could serve Him while selling? God told her, she can serve where ever she is, doing what ever she does; just show Christ to those you comes in contact with by serving them with a “loving heart” and a “servant attitude”. So instead of thinking about what she wants or needs she learned to think about what is best for her clients. That change of mind and heart made her very successful in sales. People trust her and see she has a “servants heart”. In September 2014 she started a Christian business podcast where she interviews Christians who tell their testimony and share how they “keep God’s business in their business.” The podcast is available free on iTunes and is called: The Intentional Christian Preneur.

Overcoming being stuck
Myra Goldick joined me on the Gary Smith Show today to discuss overcoming being stuck, or how to get “unstuck”. She explained how sometimes something unexpected can cause us to get stuck, but normally it comes from a series of events that we may not be tuned to that will eventually put us in a “stuck” position. There are often stages of becoming stuck. Myra goes on to explain that being stuck is okay, because we need to grow. Once we accept the fact that things have changed, and you have to work around the changes to feel the feeling of success and happiness, based on those changes, will you be able to move forward and take action. To get unstuck from sadness, frustrations and fear, one takeaway from the conversation is to make a list of things that make you happy!
